To work amongst the trees is the highest honor, and at this community-based project we paid our respects to the land around us. Our mantra for this endeavor was, first and foremost, “do no harm”. No trees were removed, tree roots were protected with wood chip barriers, and the construction area was contained with fencing. We mindfully built only where the pre-existing structure existed, and we removed invasive species from the area. With sustainability as a driving effort, we sourced local, renewable products, reused timbers and roof framing materials from the previous pavilion, and we redirected the storm drains to hydrate the surrounding forest. Metal roofing and fireproof cedar siding contribute to the grade A eco-conscious fire-rated system.
This once humble metal shop turned state-of-the-art Physical Therapy office set it’s sights on energy-saving innovations. We combined two commercial buildings to make one new clinic, reframing the building and super insulating the walls. An improved performance heating/cooling system was also added to create a more energy-efficient structure overall. High-efficiency LED light fixtures were installed throughout, and salvaged wood was utilized for interior trim, desktops, tables, and cabinets. The building is now equipped with solar-ready solutions in preparation for solar panels, when time and budget allow. Beautiful new workout areas, bathrooms, and an indoor bike parking area completed this indoor office renovation.
This volunteer-driven food pantry was in need of a stand-alone facility to operate more efficiently and effectively, and we were happy to hop in and help. Providing groceries and other essentials to local households and unhoused individuals, we built a 400-square-foot outpost with drive-up capability. To support the pantry’s efforts, we used reclaimed siding from Lovett Deconstruction on the outside and installed fridges, freezers, and organized shelving on the inside. Now over a year in, here is what they tell us: “We are now providing groceries to almost 500 individuals or 250 to 300 households each week. I’m so glad we ended up with the building. It’s heavily utilized, versatile, and very welcoming to everyone who comes.”
